IE 6 Phased Out

I feel so excited to see such move, especially after receiving so many requests on “IE 6 is a must-catered” or “why not IE 6 looks the same great? Please fix.” from client.

My reply is always the same. “Because IE 6 sucks.”. Catering IE 6 lowers web standard. Continue to support IE 6 will require a compromise on user experience and site performance. Therefore being a product leader, dropping off IE 6 support is a reasonable move, but then it’s totally unacceptable from sales/marketing. I believe 37 Signals has made a harsh decision, but yet the best one IMO.

Hope the IE-6-Phase-Out-Day for Goovii* arrives soon.

*Goovii is one of my current in-charge product. It is currently adopted in freeBlog of HKCSL.

Google Chrome – Opensource Browser Project

Google finally released its own opensource browser, the Google Chrome, based on Webkit rendering engine adopted in Safari. Personal I like Webkit a lot because it’s fast and solid. Now Chrome comes with Google Gears which further strengthen the whole thing up.

Google lives on the Internet. It’s in our interest to make the Internet better and without competition we have stagnation.

The comics should show their vision and passion towards building a good product. You guys are real great.

Update: Chrome is now available for download.
