Welcome back, iPhone 3G

Today I got the new iPhone 3G. My companion is back!!

Originally I planned to have black 8GB, but the white is the only offer to me. No choice then. I like black one more, it’s more elegant overall. White is not too match in design, really. Take a comparison:

But sometimes white can be lovely :). I think I will like it more and more.

And I was told that the phone is not “locked” at all. You can insert any 3G sim to activate from iTunes. A good news for anti-3 users. Updated: Work seamlessly on HKCSL sim. Ultra-fast browsing speed.

Lastly, welcome back, my friend.

iPhone 3G. More powerful. Cheaper price.

Steve Jobs is always the best in packaging IMO.

6 millions iphone sold — 90% customer satisfaction (off the carts), 98% are browsing online, 94% are using email, 90% are using text messaging, 80% are using 10 or more features. We figured out the next challenges:

  1. 3G network support
  2. Enterprise support
  3. Third party application support
  4. More countries
  5. More affordable

Point 1 to 4 are fulfilled, as expected from the vigorous rumors before the event. But Steve thinks it is still not attractive enough and place a US$299 price tag. No more excuse for not going to get one. You won, Steve.

Mother’s Day – Mac mini

Mum told me she would like to have a simple machine (together with my old ACD) in her room, so that she can browse the internet for news and so on. I immediately thought of Mac mini. After looking for the 2nd-handed one (and indeed I have bought one, sadly need to return it over), at last I decided to buy her a new one.

It’s tiny and cute. All family members love it so much.

Start the power -> join WIFI. Internet is up in 2 minutes (should have been faster if I remember the mac address filtering security).

As my MBP’s iTune library is kept shared, the new mac member is already “ready” to play songs/movies once it started. Videos streamed over the intranet smoothly. Everything just works seamlessly. No extra configuration required even for Front Row in sharing music/video library. This is the greatest experience ever in my PC life. My Dad feels great about that too.

Luckily able to buy it in 12-month installment, otherwise I should have been bankrupted.

Happy Mother’s Day.

New family member: ACD 30″

Finally I get my first 30″-large THING in my life.

It’s 2nd-hand. Condition is perfect as observed so far. And It’s HUGE! I couldn’t stop wowing when the seller showed me the thing. My MBP has done a great job to support the ultra-high resolution and the performance is more than acceptable.
